Jan Ormerod

"Moonlight" is a wordless narrative created by Jan Ormerod. I found it in the local library.
The blurb says:
"It's nearly bedtime and a little girl is eating her dinner, playing in the bath [...] But she's not quite ready to sleep yet"

It's interesting how my work is similar in the way of layout. Some scenes have no background, objects are coming out of the boxes, it's quite simplistic etc.
Although I don't like the style of the illustrations (quite 80s, washed out and flat), I find the narrative has been illustrated well and there's a good flow. Having 32 pages gives you the power to create more of a flow!
This book has reinforced my opinion that simple is powerful. I don't have to add lots of detail to create interest and narrative.
She also shows a good variety of page layout, with some pages showing a full image, whilst others have 2,3, or 6. It's more visually engaging having different layouts.
